I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. Winston Churchill

Aug 11, 2008

Eyewitnesses:

Vasiko, 31 , Lawyer: I went to the Republican Clinic to see my friend Beka, who was transported from Gori. Time to time lots of ambulances were bringing in wounded soldiers. Seeing the vehicles the parents of the soldiers started crying and screaming.

They were calling: "Name, tell the name?" Than everyone were getting quiet and were saying prayers:" Oh, God, let me see my son wounded but alive." And this was going on and on with each ambulance.

Avto, 60, from Senaki, taxi driver: What is going on is all Russia's and rotten Shevardnadze's fault. It was Shevardnadze who ceded Abkhazian and Ossetian territories to Russia…Now its time for America, Europe and whole world to speak up and intervene. Putin Satan! Should not anyone stop this Devil? If they are not stopped now – they will stamp on Europe tomorrow…Do you think there is something that will stop them?? At last there should be someone who will overcome these "Vanias". They will never stop themselves. There is no "Two Russia". There is only one Russia, the one which always used to be. I remember the Soviet times, they never cared about other's opinions, and even now they want to rule over the world. Misha is doing right; he knows that Russia will never bring any good to us. Our people are right; the important thing now is to have someone to help us stop Russia.

Nona, 36, Tbilisi: Yesterday, I and my whole neighborhood spent the night on the street. There were explosions and bombing. I still remember everything what was going on in the 90's. It's happening exactly the same way as then, during the Abkhazian war. Russia hasn't changed at all. I have a feeling of de-ja vu. How can I believe that there is no one to help us? Who needs the world ruled by Russia?? How can I believe that Russia will get away with that??

Goga, 25, computer programmer: Everyone around me had their families on vacation: some at the seaside, some in the mountains, some in the villages with their grandparents and look what did they do??? My friend Zura had his wife and 1 year old child sent to Racha region on holiday at the house of his parents. 2 days ago he was told on the telephone that the bomb fell on his house and his parents were wounded. With no more information he left for Racha immediately, he reached his house with difficulty. He called us that his mother was wounded and that our policemen were taking care of them.

Maka 35, secretary-specialist: I heard this story from my neighbor Lali. It happened to her relative Natia, who was getting married and the wedding was planned on the 9th of August. The groom was taken to the army. There was no news of him for 2 days, he wasn't calling home. On the third day Natia received the news about the death of her fiancée. How unhappy she is…

Да, ребята. А вы хорошие потомки пропагандистов Берии и Джугашвили.
Говорите, что модерируете комментарии? Но вы же ярые сторонники демократии, и, по словам, президента США самая демократичная страна в регионе?

DOn't worry Darling,

all comments are posted anyway, notwithstanding the content.

Maybe not the most democratic, but at least more democratic than your home-country, dear!

Dear Katiee,
Trust me, you are wrong.
Russia is one of most democratic countries in the world. Russia is a member of G7.
On other hand look at Georgia. It has small territori and very aggressive militaries (remember, that this conflict begun after georgian massacre in South Osetia, where georgian were killing Osetian defensless babies and women).
Looks like currently Georgia is as much democratic country as it was during Roman Empire times.

I think that this article is wrong. Many facts are not right.

At first: Georgia the first attacked peaceful citizens who live in town Tshenval and its surroundings (about 1 o'clock at night 08/08/2008. And no one your channel told about what happened in Tshenval ). Look at this fact more that 2000 PEACEFUL PEOPLE WERE KILLED with that bombardment (including 15 peacemakers from Russia).

At second: Russian armed force can be in South Ossetia by the mandate of U.N.O.
This mandate was verified with the agreement between South Osetia and Georgia in 1992 year. Any questions?

But if Georgia is right why are the Georgia Internet's resources closed? Why did your channels keep silence about Georgia's attacks on South Ossetia at the day of beginning Olympic Games? Why Do your channels not transmit cadres from destroyed town Tshenval? There are a lot of 'WHY', aren't there?

Watch this video. There is an American citizen who was in South Ossetia during Georgian's attacks. No comments.

Look at the chronology of developments and you understand everything!

You say that you lost respect to Russia? But what do you know about Russia? Did you have any respect? What do you mean when you talk about respect?
If Saakashvili did not started bombing Osetia and killing innocent civilian people, but Russia entered to Georgia - than it would be right to say that we are agressors. But in current situation - somebody had to stop killing people. US did not wanted to do this. Russia did. Just like USSR (Georgia, Ukraine, Russia and other 12 countries) entered to Germany to stop Hitler and stop killing people. Just like NATO entered Kosovo and bombed Serbia stoped killing people.

This message comes from a long way away. I am sure that many people here are concerned for the people of Georgia and South Ossetia.

Our prayers are with you.

Let's hope and pray that with G-d's help the various "leaders" in the region come to their senses and resolve this conflict peacefully. No more innocent people should die. What a terrible juxtaposition to see the wonderful and heartwarming Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics and then to see such terrible pictures coming out of the Caucasus.

Wake up world "leaders" ! This is the year 2008. We are meant to be going somewhere.

PETER

I see you have NO IDEA about the history, or you don't have any conscious to compare our situation with USSR invasion in Germany of NATO invasion in Kosovo.

We did not attack RUSSIA; Russia does not act in the defense.

If Russia acted only in the territory of SOUTH OSETIA it could even be justified, but you are so blind and so "bessovestnie" that try to justify your governments unlawful actions in the WHOLE TERITORY OF GEORGIA!!!

ha-ha... Yeah, American invasion to Kosovo was something different... :)))

Hm... "actions in the whole territory"... And what did you expected? It's a WAR, baby. Every single military targets MUST be destroied at the WHOLE territory in oder to prevent ANY support to the enemy forces.

Dear Katiee,
I see you have NO IDEA about the International public law.
Please, have a look:

UN CONVENTION
ON THE PREVENTION AND PUNISHMENT OF THE CRIME OF GENOCIDE

The Contracting Parties confirm that genocide, whether committed in time of peace or in time of war, is a crime under international law which they undertake to prevent and to punish.

The following acts shall be punishable:
(a) Genocide;
(b) Conspiracy to commit genocide;
(c) Direct and public incitement to commit genocide;
(d) Attempt to commit genocide;
(e) Complicity in genocide.

Persons committing genocide or any of the other acts enumerated in article III shall be punished, whether they are constitutionally responsible rulers, public officials or private individuals.
